About the Commission
The IQSK Independent Elections Commission is established under By-Law 17: Rules and Regulations Governing the IQSK Council Elections to conduct and supervise the elections of the Institute in accordance with the IQSK Constitution, By-Laws, and the rules governing Council elections.
The Commission safeguards the integrity of the electoral process and ensures that IQSK Council elections are conducted in a manner that is independent, impartial, transparent, credible, and accountable.
Under By-Law 17, the electoral system of the Institute is founded on the freedom of eligible members to exercise their voting rights, the independence of the Commission, objectivity and impartiality in decision-making, universal suffrage, and the conduct of free, fair, and credible elections by secret ballot.
In the performance of its functions, the Commission is not subject to the direction or control of any person or authority. It is nevertheless expected to observe the principle of public participation and to consult relevant stakeholders where necessary.
The Commission is assisted by staff drawn from the IQSK Secretariat and may, where necessary, appoint election observers in accordance with By-Law 17.

Commission structure
The Commission consists of five persons appointed by the IQSK Council from among members of the Institute.
It is composed of a Chairperson, a Vice Chairperson, and three other Commissioners.
The Chairperson serves as the Returning Officer, while the Vice Chairperson serves as the Deputy Returning Officer.
